Cloud Dancer Is Pantone’s 2026 Colour Of The Year! 5 Bollywood Divas Who Rocked The Serene Shade
The Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2026 is out! And the winner is Cloud Dancer (11-4201)! - a soft, balanced white that isn't harsh, blue-toned or sterile. It's the first time Pantone has chosen a near-white shade for the title, and honestly, it makes sense. As everyone's tired, overstimulated, and dealing with a little too much these days, Pantone stepped back from bold colours and picked something that feels calm, breathable and uncomplicated.
Cloud Dancer is framed as the kind of white that gives you space to reset. Not minimalism in a strict, cold way but a gentle, easy white you can build on. Designers are already jumping on it, and the shade is popping up in tech, décor and fashion. What's fun is that Indian celebrities have been wearing this shade all year without even realising they were ahead of the trend. Here's a look at five times Bollywood leaned into Cloud Dancer long before Pantone made it official.
Soft White Gown With Great Indian Bustard Embroidery
One of the most striking Cloud Dancer-aligned looks features Sonam Kapoor in a white gown with soft floral silhouettes embroidered with the Great Indian Bustard. The colour stays airy and natural, while the detailing adds depth without weighing it down. It's delicate, artistic, and a great example of how soft white can feel meaningful without turning dramatic.
The Clean, Minimal Slip Dress
Jhanvi Kapoor wears a smooth, figure-skimming slip dress in soft white which is all about as Cloud Dancer as it gets. It isn't glossy or stark, the fabric sits in that sweet spot between matte and pearl, making the colour look relaxed rather than sharp. It's the kind of dress that proves simplicity doesn't have to feel plain.
The Sheer Lace Sari
Ananya Panday in sari crafted from sheer white lace sits beautifully within the Cloud Dancer palette. The floral texture keeps it romantic, while the colour stays soft and balanced. Even though lace can sometimes push a garment towards ivory, this one holds onto its light, airy whiteness - a great example of how Cloud Dancer works with Indian textiles.
The Matte White Skirt-Set
Tripti Dimri in crisp blazer paired with a matching skirt in matte white brings out the modern side of Cloud Dancer. No shine, no harsh edges - just a clean colour that reads fresh and composed. Outfits like this show why Pantone sees Cloud Dancer as a "blank canvas" shade: it adapts to whatever silhouette you give it.
The Vintage Fishtail Gown
The most romantic of the lot is Tamannah Bhatia's soft white fishtail gown with puff sleeves, a sweetheart neckline and lace at the hem. The colour is warm and milky, not bright or stark, and it photographs beautifully under warm lighting. This is the exact kind of white that aligns with Pantone's description: soft, approachable and expressive without shouting.
If Cloud Dancer is meant to feel calm, gentle and uncomplicated, it's easy to see why this shade is finding its moment. Designers are leaning into softer palettes, stylists are picking whites with texture instead of flash, and celebrities are choosing silhouettes that let the colour do the work. With Pantone giving Cloud Dancer the spotlight, this soft white is set to travel from red carpets to everyday style through the coming year - subtle, wearable and surprisingly versatile.
