Can Your Old T-Shirt Empower Women And Save The Planet? ‘Project Sundri' Thinks It Can!
What if your old T-shirt didn't end up in a landfill, but became a new story of hope-for fabric, for women, and for the way we consume fashion?
That's the vision behind Project Sundri, the heart-led new initiative from UNIREC, India's pioneering sustainable fashion brand. Launched on their foundation day, the project is a powerful, purpose-driven step in the direction of circular design, women's empowerment, and soulful sustainability. And it all begins with a simple act: send back your worn-out UNIREC T-shirts.

Named in memory of the founder's grandmother, Sundri Bhatia, the project is built on the same values she embodied-resilience, resourcefulness, and creativity. But make no mistake: this is not just a recycling campaign. This is a cultural movement.
From Waste To Wonder: Where Your Clothes Go Next
Project
Sundri
begins
with
a
humble
but
revolutionary
idea:
"Return
to
Renew."
Through
UNIREC's
website,
customers
can
now
return
their
used
UNIREC
T-shirts.
In
exchange,
they
receive
not
just
discounts,
but
the
chance
to
become
co-creators
of
change.
These garments, along with leftover factory fabric, are handed over to trained women artisans, many of whom are empowered through a partnership with Srujna, a Mumbai-based nonprofit dedicated to women's economic independence.

Where Every Thread Lives Again
"This isn't just fashion, it's transformation," says Kapil Bhatia, Founder & CEO of UNIREC. 'Every product we upcycle through Project Sundri holds the energy of a second chance-for clothes, for women, and for how we consume.'
Their tagline says it all: 'Yahaan Har Dhaaga Dobara Zinda Hota Hai'-Here, every thread lives again.
Artisans craft beautiful, functional items like tote bags, laptop sleeves, pouches, and accessories from the recycled materials. Each piece is unique, infused with the story and name of the artisan who made it-creating a direct, emotional link between buyer and maker.

More Than Recycling-This Is Revival
Most sustainability efforts stop at materials. Project Sundri goes further. It builds a culture of compassion.
From its branding crafted by TapstartX Growth Studio to thoughtful unboxing moments where customers receive personal notes from artisans, every touchpoint has been designed to make sustainability human, intimate, and alive.
This isn't just about what's in the box-it's about what it stands for.
Real Impact. Real Change. And It's Just Beginning
In its pilot phase, Project Sundri has already engaged ten artisans and transformed over 300 upcycled items. The social and financial impact is real. By 2030, UNIREC hopes to upcycle one million products and empower thousands more women across India.
This is the long game-and UNIREC is committed to playing it with heart.
From Corporate Gifting to Community Stories: What's Next?
Project Sundri is already setting the stage for larger campaigns, brand collaborations, and corporate partnerships that extend the vision of sustainability into workplaces and public consciousness.
Plans are underway to scale the project into a nationwide movement, using design, storytelling, and purpose-driven commerce to redefine fashion's footprint.
Why It Matters
In a world drowning in fast fashion and greenwashing, UNIREC is building something rare: a sustainability model rooted in soul.
By combining circular design with compassion, recycling with revival, and style with storytelling, Project Sundri gives you the chance to wear change on your sleeve-literally.
Because sometimes, the most powerful revolutions start with something as simple as returning a T-shirt.
