The Art of Saree Making
Nita visited weaver Vijay Maurya's house in the Ramnagar area of Varanasi, where she saw the elaborate handloom technique in action. Nita eventually invited several Banarasi businessmen and artists to her hotel, having been captivated by the wonderful needlework and craftsmanship. There, she looked over and chose several saris, placing orders with several weavers and expressing her admiration for their skill.
Angika Kushwaha, a Ramnagar-based sari manufacturer with a PhD in textiles, shared that Nita chose their 'Lakkha Buti' sari, which is made with one lakh butis and is produced using the traditional 'kadhua technique'. Amresh Kushwaha, the chairman of the UP Industrial Cooperative Association and the father of Angika, verified that Nita bought more than a hundred saris for the wedding from different weavers.
About The Banarasi Lakkha Buti Saree
The beautiful craftsmanship and rich legacy of Banaras (Varanasi), India is represented by the Banarasi Lakkha Buti saree. This saree, which is well-known for its exquisite detailing and plush texture, represents wealth and custom. "Lakkha Buti" describes the tiny, delicate designs that are painstakingly woven into the fabric, frequently with threads of gold and silver.
These Mughal-inspired themes feature paisley leaves, and elaborate flower patterns that combine to create a breathtaking visual effect. Experienced artisans with precision and expertise are needed for the labour-intensive weaving process; they often work on a single item for weeks or even months at a time. The finest quality silk is utilized to create Banarasi saris, which adds to the garment's exquisite drape and glossy finish.
The finest quality Banarasi saris add to the sparkling finish of the outfit. The grandeur of the Banarasi Lakkha Buti sari is ideal for celebratory events; it is traditionally worn on big occasions like weddings and festivals. A treasured relic handed down through the centuries, each sari is a one-of-a-kind work of art that reflects the creative and cultural legacy of Banaras.
A Blend Of Devotion And Cultural Appreciation
Nita Ambani's visit to Varanasi highlighted her enthusiasm and support for the ancient Banarasi sari business in addition to her deep religious devotion. As her visit came to an end, she took part in the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, which turned it into a wonderful fusion of spirituality and cultural appreciation. Nita Ambani's gestures demonstrated her profound regard for the artists and their work, which added to the significance of her visit to the holy city!
