Easy Moong Dal & Potato Recipe
Moong dal is a favourite among many. This type of dal is also rich in many vitamins and other nutrients which is good for health.
Boldsky shares with you a simple and easy dal recipe you can prepare in about 20 minutes. This delectable dal curry is cooked along with potato which is another highly nutritious veggie.
The spices which is added to this treat is another thing to look forward too while enjoying your afternoon meal. On the other hand, moong dal is best suited with plain white rice.
So, make sure you have a heap of hot white rice and papad on the side. If you want to spice things up a little, drop in a little mango pickle on the side of your plate. So, what are you waiting for? Take a look at this scrumptious recipe.

You Will Need
- Green Moong dal - 1 cup (boiled)
- Potatoes - 2 (boiled)
- Tomatoes - 3 (chopped)
- Green chillies - 5 (sliced)
- Ginger - 1 piece (finely grated)
- Curry leaves - few
- Coriander leaves - few
- Salt to taste
- Water - 1 cup
For Seasoning
- Mustard seeds - 1tsp
- Jeera Seeds - 1tsp
- Methi seeds - 1/2tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
- Oil / Ghee - 1/2tsp
Procedure
- In a pan, heat a little oil. Wait for the oil to turn hot and then add in the ingredients mentioned under seasoning. Fry the ingredients well for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Now add to the pan the chopped tomatoes, sliced green chillies, grated ginger, curry leaves, salt, coriander leaves and fry on a medium heat till you see the oil separating on the sides of the pan.
- Now to the pan add in the boiled potatoes, cooked moong dal and allow it to cook for another 10 minutes or so.
- Add in a little water each time you feel that the water is less in the pan.
