Spicy Sprouts Sandwich Recipe

Sprouts sandwich is an easy and quick recipe to prepare. The sprouts are boiled and cooked with a dash of spices and then used as a filling for the sandwich. The spiced sprouts taste absolutely delicious and nutrient content remains intact.

Spicy Sprouts Sandwich Recipe

Serves:3

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat bread- 6 slices
  • Onions- 2 (sliced)
  • Low fat butter- 2tbsp

For the sprouts

  • Mixed sprouts- 1 cup (boiled)
  • Potatoes- 2 (boiled and mashed)
  • Onion- 1 (finely chopped)
  • Tomato- 1 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger-garlic paste- 1tsp
  • Green chillies- 2 (finely chopped)
  • Cumin powder- 1tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1tsp
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  • Black salt- ½ tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Oil- 1tbsp

Procedure

For the sprouts

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add onions and saute for about 5-6 minutes on medium flame.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another 2 minutes.
  3. Then add green chillies, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, black salt and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the tomatoes, salt and cook till they turn mushy.
  5. Now add the boiled sprouts and potatoes and mix well.
  6. Once done, switch off the flame and keep it aside.

For the sandwich

  1. Divide the sprouts mixture into three equal parts.
  2. Place one portion on one slice of the bread.
  3. Put an onion slice on top of it and then place another slice of bread over it.
  4. Repeat the same procedure with rest of the sprouts mixture and bread slices.
  5. Heat a pan and place the sandwich on it.
  6. Brush a little low fat butter on it and grill it for 3-4 minutes on each side till it turns golden brown.
  7. Once done, transfer the sandwich to the serving platter.

Your spicy sprouts sandwich is ready to be served. Enjoy it with ketchup or the dip of your choice.
