Rava Upma Recipe For A Healthy Morning
Each of us want to have a healthy start of the day, therefore we opt for something which will provide us with a good amount of energy. Rava is one such ingredient which will give you a great kick start morning. It contains a lot of proteins, nutrients and less amount of calories which is also good for those who are on a weight loss schedule.

Ingredients
- Rava - 250 gms
- Ghee - 50 gms
- Mustard seeds - 4 gms
- Black gram dal - 3 gms
- Bengal gram dal - 3 gms
- Onions - 2 ( chopped)
- Green Chillies - 3 (sliced)
- Cashews - 30 gms
- Curry leaves - 8 leaves
- Water - 500 ml
- Salt to taste
Procedure
- To make this yummy rava upma, you need to take an empty vessel. Now place the vessel on a very low flame and pour in the water. Let the water boil on the flame for 5 minutes or so.
- In another pan, pour a little ghee and wait for it to get hot. Make sure the flame is low.
- When the ghee is hot, drop in the mustard seeds and wait for it to crackle in the hot ghee.
- Add to the mustard seeds, the two dals ( black gram and bengal gram). Fry the dals with the ghee and the mustard till they turn into a golden brown.
- Now add to the pan, the chopped onions, curry leaves, sliced chillies and the cashew nuts. On the low flame, fry all the ingredients well with the ghee.
- After stirring the ingredients in the pan and allowing it to fry well, add in the rava slowly to the pan and sauté it gently.
- Make sure to fry the rava well with the ghee and the other ingredients which is present in the pan.
- After 5 minutes of frying the rava, add to the pan the boiling water. When you add the boiling water to the rava, make sure to stir the ingredients rapidly using a flat spoon.
- Now sprinkle the salt and cover the pan with a lid, leaving it half open.
- When the moisture is absorbed, the rava upma is ready.
Optional - You can garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves. Your yummy rava upma is now ready to eat. It tastes its best when served hot!
