Rava Upma Recipe For A Healthy Morning

Rava Upma Recipe For A Healthy Morning

Ingredients

  • Rava - 250 gms
  • Ghee - 50 gms
  • Mustard seeds - 4 gms
  • Black gram dal - 3 gms
  • Bengal gram dal - 3 gms
  • Onions - 2 ( chopped)
  • Green Chillies - 3 (sliced)
  • Cashews - 30 gms
  • Curry leaves - 8 leaves
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Salt to taste

Procedure

  1. To make this yummy rava upma, you need to take an empty vessel. Now place the vessel on a very low flame and pour in the water. Let the water boil on the flame for 5 minutes or so.
  2. In another pan, pour a little ghee and wait for it to get hot. Make sure the flame is low.
  3. When the ghee is hot, drop in the mustard seeds and wait for it to crackle in the hot ghee.
  4. Add to the mustard seeds, the two dals ( black gram and bengal gram). Fry the dals with the ghee and the mustard till they turn into a golden brown.
  5. Now add to the pan, the chopped onions, curry leaves, sliced chillies and the cashew nuts. On the low flame, fry all the ingredients well with the ghee.
  6. After stirring the ingredients in the pan and allowing it to fry well, add in the rava slowly to the pan and sauté it gently.
  7. Make sure to fry the rava well with the ghee and the other ingredients which is present in the pan.
  8. After 5 minutes of frying the rava, add to the pan the boiling water. When you add the boiling water to the rava, make sure to stir the ingredients rapidly using a flat spoon.
  9. Now sprinkle the salt and cover the pan with a lid, leaving it half open.
  10. When the moisture is absorbed, the rava upma is ready.

Optional - You can garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves. Your yummy rava upma is now ready to eat. It tastes its best when served hot!
