Pesarattu Dosa Recipe: Andhra Style
If you want to try out a traditional recipe this morning, we have something in store for you. Known as the Pesarattu dosa , it hails from the Andhra Pradesh and it is traditionally served alongside coconut chutney.
One of the best things about this Pesarattu dosa is that it is not only nutritious in nature but is also very delicious to taste. The use of green gram to make the dosa also adds to the beautiful bright green colour of the dosa. Though, some may consider it to be a spicy dish to start off in the morning, we tell you that although it has chilies in its ingredients, this dosa is not at all spicy.

Ingredients
- Whole Green gram - 2 cup
- Raw rice - 3 tsp
- Onion - 1 (chopped)
- Ginger - 1 piece
- Cumin seeds - 1 ½ tsp
- Green chillies - 5 (sliced)
- Salt to taste
Toppings
- Onion - 1 (finely chopped)
Procedure
- To prepare the Pesarattu dosa, you need to first soak the green gram and rice together for about 6 hours.
- After 6 hours, grind the gram and the rice together to make a thick smooth paste. After you half grind the rice and the gram, add to the mixture the onion, green chillies, ginger and salt.
- Now add to the mixture the cumin seeds and mix well.
- When the mixture is ready, heat a tava on a medium flame and wait for it to get hot.
- When the tava is hot, pour a ladle of the batter in the center of the hot tava and spread it in a circle from the center to the outside of the tava.
- Now while the batter is cooking over the medium flame, drizzle a tablespoon of oil around the Pesarattu dosa.
- After the dosa is fried one side, sprinkle the chopped onions in the center, on the top of the dosa.
- Press the onions lightly against the dosa using a spatula.
- After the Pesarattu dosa is cooked on this side, flip it over to the other side and sprinkle a little more oil over the dosa for it to cook .
- Now let the dosa fry for sometime over the medium flame and then remove it from the flame after 8 seconds or so.
Your Pesarattu dosa is now ready to eat. In order to enjoy this lovely dosa, you need to eat it alongside coconut chutney. It enhances the taste of the yummy dosa.
