Holi Special: Dry Fruit Gujiya Recipe
Gujiya is a must prepare item on Holi. These half moon shaped deep fried savouries are filled with dry fruits and coconut. They taste extremely delicious whether served hot or cold.
You will find different varieties of Gujiyas on Holi. Some are filled with khoya, some with coconut and some with dry fruits. Today we have a special dry fruit gujiya recipe for you which is sure to make your Holi all the more interesting.

Since the recipe is made with dry fruits, it is definitely not a good option for the calorie watchers. So, if you are willing to chuck the calorie count this festive season then the dry fruit gujiya is a must try. Check out the recipe and give it a try this Holi.

Ingredients
- All purpose flour (maida)- 3 cups
- Ghee- ¼ cup
- Salt- a pinch
- Oil- for deep frying
For The Filling
- Dry dessicated coconut- ½ cup
- Almonds- ¼ cup (coarsely ground)
- Pistachios- ¼ cup (coarsely ground)
- Cashew nuts- ¼ cup (coarsely ground)
- Dates- a few (chopped)
- Raisins- ¼ cup
- Cardamom powder- ¼ tsp
Procedure
1.
Mix
the
flour,
ghee
and
salt
together
in
a
mixing
bowl.
2.
Add
a
little
water
and
knead
a
smooth
dough
and
keep
it
aside.
3.
Mix
all
the
ingredients
of
the
filling
together
in
a
bowl.
4.
Divide
the
dough
into
10-15
equal
parts.
5.
Keep
a
small
bowl
filled
with
water
by
the
side.
6.
Dust
a
plain
surface
with
flour
and
roll
each
portion
of
the
dough
like
a
poori.
7.
Place
a
teaspoon
full
of
filling
mixture
onto
one
half
of
the
circle.
Wet
your
fingers
into
the
bowl
of
water
and
spread
a
little
water
around
the
edges
of
the
circle.
8.
Gently
fold
the
circle
into
a
semi
circle,
forming
a
half
moon
shape.
9.
Seal
the
edges
by
pressing
slightly,
so
that
the
dough
sticks
to
each
other
making
sure
all
the
filling
is
still
concealed
inside.
10.
Decorate
the
edges
by
twisting
the
dough
portion
carefully
with
fingers.
11.
Continue
the
same
procedure
with
the
remaining
dough
and
filling.
12.
Heat
oil
in
a
deep
bottomed
pan
and
slowly
place
the
gujiyas
in
it.
13.
You
can
fry
4-5
gujiyas
at
a
time.
14.
Fry
the
gujiyas
for
4-5
minutes
on
medium
flame
till
they
turn
golden
brown
in
colour
on
all
the
sides.
15.
Once
done,
transfer
the
gujiyas
to
a
plate
and
drain
the
excess
oil
in
a
napkin.
16.
Follow
the
same
procedure
with
the
other
gujiyas.
