Easy Bengali Rosogolla Recipe For Ganesh Chaturthi
One thing you cannot take out of a Bengali is the love for sweets and especially their love for rosogollas. This sweet dish is usually known as Rasgulla in other parts of India. But Bongs have a special and a close attachment to the sweet which makes them call it in such a sweet way 'rosogolla'.
Rosogolla is prepared with chenna which is a variety of cottage cheese prepared usually out of cow's milk. The chenna is made out into small balls and dipped in sweet sugar syrup. The soft and mushy rosogollas are a perfect treat for all those with a sweet tooth. This easy sweet recipe will help you prepare your favourite rasgullas in no time in your own kitchen.

Ingredients
For
Chenna
- Cow's milk- 5 cups
- Lemon juice- 1 1/2tbsp
For Syrup
- Sugar- 1 cup
- Water- 5 cups
Procedure
1.
Pour
the
milk
in
a
wide
pan
and
bring
it
to
boil.
2.
Switch
off
the
flame
and
then
wait
for
a
minute.
3.
Add
in
the
lemon
juice
to
the
milk
and
stir
gently.
4.
Allow
it
to
stand
for
a
minute
and
let
it
curdle.
Wait
for
the
water
to
separate
from
the
milk
completely.
5.
Strain
out
the
water
from
the
chenna
with
the
help
of
a
muslin
cloth.
6.
Place
the
muslin
cloth
with
the
chenna
in
a
bowl
of
fresh
water
and
wash
it
2
to
3
times.
7.
Hang
the
chenna
in
the
cloth
and
wait
for
20
minutes
to
let
the
whole
water
drain
out.
8.
Now
heat
water
in
a
pan
and
add
the
sugar
to
it.
9.
Stir
occasionally
and
wait
for
the
sugar
to
dissolve
completely.
10.
Then
place
the
chenna
in
a
cloth
and
mash
it
well
with
your
fingers.
Make
sure
no
lumps
are
formed.
11.
Knead
till
the
chenna
becomes
smooth.
12.
Put
the
chenna
balls
in
the
sugar
water,
cover
with
a
lid
and
steam
for
7-8
minutes
on
medium
flame.
13.
Once
done,
switch
off
the
flame
and
transfer
the
rosogollas
into
a
bowl.
14.
Refrigerate
and
serve
chilled.
