Diwali Special: Easy Recipe For Balushahi
Diwali is the time for mouthwatering dishes of which sweets top the list. On Diwali, whichever house you may visit, you will be definitely welcomed with sweets. Laddoos, pedas, halwa, kheer are some of the most popular sweets prepared on Diwali.
Another most popular sweet in Indian cuisine is the balushahi. It is a simple preparation and doesn't require too much of hassle. The best part about this sweet recipe is that you can keep it stored in airtight containers for weeks.

Nowadays, purchasing sweets from the market can be a health hazard due to use of toxic materials in their preparation. Therefore, it is better to try out something at home which also adds a special touch to your Diwali sweets.

All you need
- Maida (all purpose flour)- 4 cups
- Ghee- 3/4 cup
- Baking soda- 1/2tsp
- Curd- 1/2 cup
- Sugar- 3 cups
- Water- 6 cups
- Oil- for deep frying
- Pistachios- a few (chopped, for garnish)
Procedure
1.
Mix
the
maida,
ghee,
baking
soda
and
curd
together
in
a
bowl.
Knead
a
soft
dough
with
warm
water.
2.
Do
not
knead
very
finely.
After
kneading,
keep
it
aside
for
20
minutes.
3.
After
that,
heat
the
oil
for
deep
frying
in
a
pan.
4.
Make
lemon
sized
balls
out
of
the
dough
and
flatten
it
between
your
palms.
Make
a
small
dent
at
the
centre.
5.
In
another
pan,
heat
the
water
and
add
sugar
to
it.
Let
it
boil
till
the
sugar
dissolves
completely.
Make
a
one
string
sugar
syrup.
Switch
off
the
flame.
6.
Fry
the
balushahi
in
hot
oil
till
it
turns
golden
brown
from
all
the
sides.
7.
Transfer
the
fried
balushahi
to
the
warm
sugar
syrup
and
keep
it
dipped
for
a
while.
8.
After
that,
transfer
the
balushahi
to
a
serving
plate,
using
tongs.
9.
Garnish
with
chopped
pistachios.
Balushahi is ready to be served. This Diwali sweet is sure to make you go crazy for more.
