Yummy Aval Payasam For Ugadi!
Ugadi is a celebrated in Karnataka's and Andhra Pradesh's as New Year. Payasam is one of the most preferred desserts to celebrate this important day. You can make payasam with rice, sevai or aval (beaten rice). Take a look at the aval payasam recipe for Ugadi.
Aval payasam recipe for Ugadi:
Ingredients

aval/poha/beaten
rice
sugar
½
tsp
cardamom
powder
almonds,
slivered
pistachios,
slivered
8-10
raisins
7-8
cashews,
broken
into
two
halves
Directions to make aval payasam recipe, Ugadi dessert recipe:
1. Boil milk in a large deep vessel. Stir continuously to avoid sticking on the vessel. It is best to boil in medium flame.
2. Wash poha/aval/beaten rice until clear water flows. Loosen the rice with fingertips and separate. Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
3. When the milk looks thick and decreases to half the volume, add aval/beaten rice and stir well. Now add sugar and cardamom. Mix till the sugar dissolves.
4. Boil for 3-4minutes and then put it off flame. Garnish with almonds, cashews, raisins and pistachios.
Aval payasam is a tasty Ugadi dessert which can be made within 30 minutes. So, don't forget to prepare this recipe.
