Spicy Ambodes In Three Easy Steps

Since the lakshmi festival (diwali) is soon coming, it is time to make some tasty “Ambodes". Ambodes are the tasty deep fried snacks prepared as one of the main items in the feast. Apart from the five types of sweets, women also offer the soaked gram dals as neivedhyam for the goddess and then prepare ambodes out of the prasad. Take a look to know how to make the spicy and crispy ambodes.

Ingredients:
- 250gms Channa Dal/Bengal Gram
- 4 Green Chilies, Chopped finely
- 1tbsp Curry Leaves, Chopped
- 2tbsp Coriander Leaves, Chopped
- 1tsp Asafoetida/Hing
- Salt to taste
- 2tsp Coarsely ground Red Chilies
- Oil for deep-frying
How To Make This Karnataka Special Snack?
1. Soak Dal for 2hrs. Grind the Dal coarsely without using water.
2. Remove to a mixing bowl. Add all the other ingredients and mix well. Heat Oil in a kadai.
3. Shape the mixture into flat, small and round vada's and deep fry on low flame till golden brown.
Serve with Rice and Rasam or Rice and Majjigehuli/Kadi. Can be served as an evening snack with Coffee
