Momos: Yummy Low Calorie Recipe
A dish native to Tibet and Nepal, momos (dumplings) have gained wide spread popularity all over the world. This dumplings recipe is also very popular among the hilly states of India. The best part of this momo recipe is that it is very low in its calorie content. The cooking procedure in this momo recipe involves only steaming which helps in preserving the nutrient value of the food.

Here is the vegetarian momo recipe.
Ingredients (Serves 4-6)
For The Momos (Dumplings):
- Flour (maida)- 4-5 cups
- Baking Powder- ½tsp
- Onions- 9-10 (finely chopped)
- Cabbage- 1 (finely chopped)
- Carrots- 7-8 (finely chopped)
- Butter- 2-3tbsp
- Ginger Paste- 1 ½ -2tbsp
- Ajinomoto- 1-2tsp
- Salt- To taste
For The Sauce:
- Tomatoes- 4-5
- Garlic Flakes- 4-5
- Green Chillies- 3-4
- Coriander- ½ cup
- Salt- To taste
Procedure
For The Momos (Dumplings):
- First mix the flour with some water, baking powder and salt to form a stiff dough. Keep this aside.
- Now take the onions, cabbage and carrots in a bowl and add the 1tbsp butter and some salt to it.
- Place in on a gas oven for boiling on a high flame.
- Strain off all the water from the vegetables after they are boiled
- Now add 1tbsp of butter and the ajinomoto into it and mix well. Keep it aside.
- Take the dough and make small balls. Roll each ball into small and thin round shapes.
- Take the mixture of vegetables and use it to fill each ball of dough.
- Now twist the edges to seal the filling inside the dough.
- After they are ready put them in a pressure cooker for steaming for at least 15-20 minutes on simmer.
- Serve this vegetarian momo hot.
For The Sauce:
- Use tongs and burn the tomatoes directly over the fire in a gas oven. Peel them off.
- Now add the tomatoes, garlic flakes,green chillies, coriander and some salt in the blender and grind it to paste.
- Your sauce for the momo recipe is ready to be served.
For The Serving:
- Take 4 to 6 plates according to the requirement and serve the vegetarian momo equally over each plate.
- Add a small bowl of sauce in each plate and serve.
