Ingredients:
1. Chicken ' kilo
2. Tomatoes 2 (One paste and the other cut into 4 pieces)
3. Garlic (10 cloves)
4. Ginger (25 grams)
5. Onions 4
6. Peppercorns 8
7. Cloves 5 (laung)
8. Cinnamon sticks 4 (dal chinni)
9. Cardamom 6 (elaichi)
10. Bay leaves 2 (Tej patta)
11. Red Chilli powder (2 table spoons)
12. Coriander powder (2 table spoons)
13. Cumin powder (2 table spoons)
14. Dry Red Chillies 2 (whole)
15. Cumin seeds (whole 2 teaspoons)
16. Coriander leaves (25 grams)
17. Garam Masala (2 teaspoons)
18. Vegetable oil (3 tablespoons)
19. Salt and sugar to taste

Procedure:

  • To prepare Gota Chicken, marinate chicken, grind 1 tomato, 2 onions, 5 cloves of garlic and half the ginger into a paste.
  • Cut the remaining onions and tomato into four pieces and add to marinade.
  • Add the remaining garlic cloves whole and make thin slices of the ginger and add to marinade.
  • Add peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, bay leaves and coriander leaves to the marinade.
  • Add garam masala, coriander powder, cumin powder and red chili powder to the marinade.
  • Add salt to taste and a dash of sugar
  • Leave the chicken to marinate for 2 hours.
  • After this, heat oil in a deep pan and add the marinated chicken to it.
  • Cook the chicken till the water dries out and the gravy looks well done.
  • Add two cups water and then, cover and cook for ten minutes.
