Goan Red Chicken Vindaloo Recipe
South Indians love Goan food as it is spicy, rich in texture and delicious. This afternoon we share with you an easy chicken curry recipe that you can enjoy with plain rice.
However, if you want to make your meal a little more interesting, this chicken vindaloo recipe goes well with tomato rice as well. (Click to see tomato rice recipe).
The Goan style chicken vindaloo recipe is made with a ton of spices. It is the spices that add flavour to the dish apart from the juicy chicken added to the recipe.
There are two ways to prepare this red chicken vindaloo recipe - it can be sweet, by adding more tomato puree and it can be spicy by adding green chillies.

All You Need
- Chicken - 1 kg (washed and chopped)
- Onion - 3 (chopped)
- Tomato puree- 2 cups
- Ginger & Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
- Dhaniya Powder - 1 tsp
- Chilli Powder - 1½ tsp
- Jeera Powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Water - 1 cup
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Lemon Juice - 1
Procedure
- Add oil to the cooker. When hot add in the chopped onions and fry till crisp.
- Add in the ginger and garlic paste and fry it with the onions.
- Now add dhaniya powder, chilli powder, jeera powder, and turmeric powder.
- Saute these ingredients well on a low flame.
- Add the tomato puree to the cooker. Mix the puree well with the ingredients in the cooker.
- Simmer and allow it to cook for 3 minutes. (Wait for the oil to pop-up at the center of the mixture. This is an indication to show the tomato puree is cooked well.)
- Now add the chicken pieces to the cooker and mix.
- Add salt and water, cover the lid and pressure cook for 6 whistles.
- When done, switch the flame off.
- Add the garam masala and lemon juice to the chicken vindaloo recipe.

Don't
add
too
much
of
water
to
