Chicken In Honey Chilli Sauce

Preparing Chinese food at home is always exciting. It provides a delightful break from the everyday meal. Even the most picky eaters in the family like kids are extremely fond of Chinese food. So, why not prepare a special Chinese chicken recipe which your kids will relish with utmost pleasure.

Here is an easy and lip-smacking chicken recipe to suit everyone's taste at home. Chicken in honey chilli sauce is prepared using two contradicting flavours. It is sweet and spicy at the same time. The recipe is fairly simple in which the chicken pieces are fried and then cooked in a delicious sweet and spicy honey chilli sauce.

So, why go out for Chinese food outside when you can easily prepare it at home! Try out this delicious recipe of chicken in honey chilli sauce and add the twist to your taste.

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Chicken breast- 500gms (boneless, cut into pieces)
  • Cornflour- 2tbsp
  • Onion- 1 (sliced)
  • Ginger-garlic paste- 2tsp
  • Lemon juice- 1tsp
  • Spring onions- 1 bunch (finely chopped)
  • Green chillies- 2 (finely chopped)
  • Honey- 1tbsp
  • Chilli sauce- 2tbsp
  • Soy sauce- 1tbsp
  • Black pepper powder- 1tsp
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Water- 2 cups
  • Oil- 1tbsp (for cooking)
  • Oil- 2 cups (for deep frying)
  • Sesame seeds- 1tsp (for garnish)

Procedure

  1. Clean and wash the chicken pieces thoroughly.
  2. Marinate the chicken pieces with lemon juice, salt and pepper. Keep aside for half an hour.
  3. After half an hour, heat oil in a deep bottomed frying pan.
  4. Mix one tablespoon of cornflour in about two tablespoon of water. Coat the chicken pieces with this cornflour mixture and deep fry them for about 10 minutes on a low flame till they turn golden brown.
  5. Once done, transfer the chicken pieces on a plate and keep it aside.
  6. Now heat about a tablespoon of oil in a pan. Add the sliced onions and fry for 3-4 minutes on a medium flame.
  7. Add ginger-garlic paste, chillies and stir for about a minute.
  8. Mix one tablespoon of cornflour, soy sauce, chilli sauce in about half a cup of water and add it to the pan. Mix well.
  9. Now add honey, chicken pieces and salt. Keep stirring the pieces in the sauce for 3 minutes.
  10. Add the spring onions and mix well.
  11. Once done, switch off the flame and garnish it with the sesame seeds.
