Traditional Clothes At LFW 2013

The Lakme Fashion Week 2013 is basically a summer resort collection. So what we expected to see were some very sunny designs, bikinis and sarongs. However, traditional clothes now dominate the fashion scene. That is why, we got to see a fair amount of traditional collections at LFW 2013. The usual suspects, Manish Malhotra and Vikram Phadnis presented there exquisite Indian collections at the Lakme Fashion Week'13.

Bhairavi Jaikishan's ethnic collection on Day 2 at Lakme Fashion Week'13 clearly reflected that sheer and net are still going strong in traditional wear. The collection, designed specifically for destination weddings, aptly called "Paradise Island", included a whole range of cocktail wear with the designer's signature floral embroidery on lightweight fabrics like net and silks in her favorite soft colour palette comprising golds, blush pinks, mango hues, tangerine and pistachio greens.

We also had some surprise packages at the LFW 2013 in the form of Gaurang Shah and Shruti Sancheti. Gaurang Shah presented some beautiful Rajasthani and Uttar Pradesh weaves in his Gulbadan collection. Chitrangada Singh, his show-stopper wore a gorgeous black kota saree. Shruti Sancheti's collection for the LFW 2013 was marked by Prachi Desai's spectacled presence.

Kajol in Manish Malhotra

Manish Malhotra's theme for the LFW 2013 is 'Bollywood Eras Past'. This shaded saree with a lace blouse is very reminiscent of the black and white times.

This neon green and pink shaded chiffon saree is a tribute to all the Yash Raj heroines. You can try this sleeveless blouse that is tied up as a bow at the back.

Prachi Desai in Shruti Sancheti

Prachi Desai is looking like a cute nerd in this cotton saree. She is wearing the saree with a short kurta in Gujarati style.

This saree from Manish Malhotra's collection has been draped with a thin pallu. This was yester years actress Mumtaz's patent style.

Aditi Hydari in Payal Sinhal

Aditi Hydari is looking ravishing in this red lehenga. Although it is summer, but full-sleeve blouses are in vogue.

Karisma Kapoor in Shehlaa

Karisma Kapoor is actually wearing an Indian style gown. This silhouette is a pearly white and made of sheer lace below the knees. The embellished collar is a huge plus for this dress.

Chitrangada Singh in Gaurang Shah

Gaurang Shah's 'Gulbadan' collection has lovely cotton and silk weaves. This saree that Chitrangada is wearing has awesome golden border and thread work. It is a proper black kota saree from Rajasthan.

Sheer Golden Saree

This sheer golden saree is from Manish Malhotra's collection. This style of semi-transparent sarees with thin borders is really 'in' these days.

Puffed Up Indian Style Gown

This beige coloured silhouette has been puffed with several layers of frill like a Victorian gown. But it has Indian embroidery and a stylish dupatta with it.

This plain white sheer saree is from Payal Sinhal's collection. We have seen many celebrities drape this kind of plain white sarees with black borders lately.

Ileana D'Cruz in Vikram Phadnis

Vikram Phadnis's collection was marked by rich gota work. Ileana wore this blue velvet choli with an off-white lehenga. The dupatta has fantastic gota work on it.
