Eye Tattoo-The Eeriest Trend Of The Century
Imagine piercing a needle in the eye to get the world's latest trend done - a tattoo. Pauly Unstoppable, from Canada got the world's first ever eyeball tattoo, thus paving a path to the most unique and eerie trend of the 21st century, which was actually introduced way back in 150 A.D
The freaky procedure was carried out to turn Pauly's eye blue. It took forty insertions of the needle to get the job done. Pigment was injected under the top layer of the eye using a syringe. At first, the experts tried a traditional needle with ink on it, but when the ink didn't hold, they switched to the syringe. The blue substance used for the tattoo was mixed with antibiotic eyewash.
After Pauly Unstoppable posed with a blue eye, he said, "I really have to emphasize again that the procedure was extensively researched and done by people who were aware of the risks and possible complications, and that it should not be casually attempted.... Now that this experiment has been started, please wait for us to either heal or go blind before trying it."
Eyeball tattooing has been around for a long time. In the 19th century it was commonly used to correct cosmetic defects in blind eyes. The process was called Corneal tattooing. It is a form of cosmetic surgery applied to the cornea. It was used to improve the visual look of the eye, improve vision or reduce the effects of scarring. Modern techniques were introduced to recreate the colour of the iris stroma, using Indian ink.
Another research states that tattooing of the opaque cornea was practiced in a crude way, in 150 A.D by Galen. He burnt the cornea with a heated stilleto, and applied either an iron or copper mixture, thereby making the cornea more transparent ( this must have curled your toes).
Lets wait and watch whether this upcoming buzz will ever be the teens most wanted trend. However, the world at last has something to offer to the tattoo addicts, who happen to run out of surface area to mark up on their skin.
