NYFW 2023: Smudgy Eyeliner Is The Latest Beauty Trend
When it comes to fashion and beauty, it is the runway that gives back something new and unimaginable (in a good way) to style devotees and enthusiasts. At New York Fashion Week 2023, ace designers like Prabal Gurung, Sandy Liang, and more featured inspirational collections with models featuring a smudgy eyeliner look. Yes, messy, lived-in eye makeup is the latest beauty trend which showcases the idea of "perfection in imperfection"!

We have listed below a few designer collections from NYFW 2023 wherein the runway models looked absolutely smashing with smudgy eyes look:

Jason Wu

Designer Jason Wu's latest collection for NYFW 2023 was all about embracing pastel hues, some sharp some flowy cuts, interesting embellishments, and more. With lead makeup artist, Diane Kendal, the designer allowed models to feature a smudgy eye look. The same added a perfect contrast to the featured ensembles and outlook as a whole. The lived-in eye makeup is certainly a bold new step to break the shackles of perfect eye makeup. Turns out that with bold eye makeup, the perfect liner lines need to take a backseat for sure!

Prabal Gurung

Ace designer Prabal Gurung's featured collection at the NYFW 2023 was inspired by "impermanence". The talented designer was hugely inspired by his homeland and 10 days Vipassana retreat and conceptualised his collection with takeaways from the same. With lead makeup artist Sil Bruinsma, the models were given smudgy black eyeliner look on their upper and lower lash lines. A few of the eye makeup looks also featured a graphic look of fuchsia and turquoise hues added around the eye area.

Sandy Liang

Designer Sandy Liang's show was all about featuring an outlook that is sweet yet authoritative. With lead makeup artist, Marcelo Gutierrez, the models looked fabulous on the runway with messy eyeliner looks. The "sweet but psycho" look was well-portrayed via trendy outfits and gothic eye makeup.
The makeup artist gave the runway models a look with smudgy liner on the upper and lower lash lines and accentuated with clean-line liquid liner. To add more drama to the chosen look, Marcelo opted for a multi-stick in Cosmic Dancer to the inner corners of the eye and around the orbital eye bone. Finally, the brushed shades from The Necessary Palette in Cool Nudes were added to the eyelids.
The trick is to apply the liner and squeeze the eyes hard. Repeat it one more time to get that perfect smudgy look.

Alice + Olivia

The Alice + Olivia Fall 2023 collection by Stacey Bendet was all about "grunge glam"! With costumes and couture outfits presenting chic silhouettes, sassy cuts, and eye-catchy embellishments, the chosen makeup only added to the woe factor.
It would be only wise to say that a messy or smudgy eyeliner look is an added extension of smokey eyes look. And when eyes go that dramatic, it is fair to be a little understated for cheeks and lips.

L’Agence

To create a messy eyeliner look, you don't need to sleep by keeping the makeup on. During the daytime or for any occasion look, this latest beauty trend can be achieved. After you apply the liner, either blend it with your finger or use a beauty brush for it. The eye palette and liner should appear well-blend in and that's it!
At L'Agence's F/W 2023 collection, Charlie Riddle Stila Global Head of Artistry showcased a messy eyeliner look with Stila's aptly named Smudge Pots and Stay All Day ArtiStix Micro Liner, a gel formula with an ultra-fine tip that's perfect for tight lining the eye.
To complete the look, soft blush and nude lip tint are enough to achieve a sultry look.

PatBo

For PatBo's F/W 2023 collection, the inspiration was 90s party girls and to complement the look, the eye makeup done was super eye-catchy. Thick, kohl-rimmed eyes were the attraction factor of the look apart from the ensembles. T
From the runways of NYFW 2023, it is safe to say that, the messy, lived-in eye makeup look will be huge in the coming months!
