You need a perfect base in order for your bridal makeup to endure the whole event and all the emotions that accompany it.

To ensure that the skin feels and looks naturally plush and hydrated, brides-to-be must prepare and care for their skin way in advance. The base must be impeccable in any event, whether it is bridal or any other, in order to do justice to the eye makeup and the rest, say experts.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Kiara Advani's makeup artist discussed how she achieves the perfect base for bridal makeup.

Bridal Makeup Tips: How To Get The Perfect Base Like Kiara Advani

In Indian weddings, primarily Hindu weddings, the brides spend a considerable amount of time in front of the fire, so makeup should not interfere with their experience.

According to celebrity makeup artist Lekha Gupta, who recently created the dreamy bridal makeup looks for actor Kiara Advani, you cannot touch up between the looks, so the makeup should be light and waterproof.

  • For preparation, alternate between massage, rollers, icing or sheet masks, based on the type of skin.
  • A bit of icing before makeup is always beneficial on the day of the event.
  • As a next step, a primer is essential, since it provides protection as well as adherence to the makeup.

  • Use a hydrating moisturiser or primer, or even a small amount of oil if you have extremely dry skin. Oily skin requires mattifying primers and moisturisers.
  • To ensure the skin looks velvety smooth, you should use a pore filler as a primer, particularly if the bride has visible pores.
  • Lip balm can be used to prepare the lips.
  • Rather than using an eye primer, use a nude colour paint pot eyeshadow to make a strong base for eyeshadow, glitter, sheen, and shimmer.
  • Upon preparation, use a colour corrector in case there is any discolouration, most commonly under the eyes and around the mouth.
  • Next, apply concealer, followed by foundation.
  • Apply a translucent powder and a fixing spray to seal the entire project.
  • To avoid cakiness, apply less and build coverage slowly.

  • In some cases, if the bride has exceptionally smooth skin, you may be able to avoid foundation altogether in favour of a primer, a sheen BB cream, or a tinted balm instead, which will give the bride's face the necessary sheen and dewy appearance.

And you are good to go!
