Classic Easy Smoky Eye Look
We see the smoky eye trend everywhere, from runways to magazines. I think we've been hearing of this look and seeing it since we were really young. It's actually inspiration enough to get initiated into the world of eyeshadows. But a lot of us are afraid to try out this look as the sheer multitude of products used for this look can be quite confusing. It isn't really that difficult to achieve, but like all great makeup looks requires practice and patience.

Everyone can try this look, no matter what the skin colour. And it can be done in ten minutes. It's said to be a basic eyeshadow look, but it isn't just that. To get that dark pigment, just an eyeshadow is definitely not enough. I'll be breaking down the whole procedure into steps and only be focusing on the eyes, rather than the entire look. Bold eyes should not be paired with bright lipsticks like bright reds or magentas, as that can mar the entire look. Instead, go for a nude lip colour or a dusty pink lipstick. Here are the steps for the look:

First prime your eyelids with an eyeshadow primer and make sure you drag some of the primer to the under eye area as well.
Start by highlighting the arch of your brow with a shimmery champagne eyeshadow. This kind of shade can be found in any basic nude eyeshadow palette.

Then take a matte brown shade and use this as a transition shade on the crease of your eyelids. Blend these two shades well, using a fluffy brush. Blending is the key when it comes to a good smoky eye.
Then take a black gel eyeliner and use that all over your lids. This doesn't have to be too neat as you are going to blend it later on anyway. Create a rough wing with this. You could use a tape to draw the wing, if you wish it to be precise. To seal it in, take some matte black eyeshadow and blend it.

Take a charcoal grey eyeshadow to go over the entire eyelid and blend all the shades together. Keep blending till it looks seamless.
Next, use a pen eyeliner to line your eyes and draw a wing. The line won't show through all the eyeshadow, but the wing will.
Follow with 2-3 coats of mascara on the upper lashes.

Use the gel eyeliner to line your upper waterline. This makes it look like you have really full eyelashes.
Moving on to the lower lash line, line it with the gel eyeliner, both the lash line and the waterline. Take the matte black eyeshadow and run it over the eyeliner to smoke it out. To smoke it out even further, go over the black eyeshadow with a brown eyeshadow.
Finish with mascara on your lower lash line.
There you go, that's the entire step by step procedure of the smoky eye look for you!
