Avoid Smelly Hair During Monsoons: Tips
Monsoons usher in a cooled and relieved effect from the hot summers. Everything gets washed clean and the leaves acquire a fresh green look. A stroll out in the rains becomes fun and refreshing. However, to enjoy this soaking wet weather it is important to be prepared to fight all its counter effects. One of these is smelly hair in monsoon humidity.
When the monsoons pour heavy showers they leave behind a damp and humid atmosphere. This dampness has an effect on everything – animate as well an inanimate. In case of objects we can follow some monsoon treatment procedures and be in control. Similarly we need to take care of ourselves. Something like damp smelly hair in monsoons can prove to be rather embarrassing and irritating – both physically and mentally. In order to save ourselves from this seasonal problem we need to keep in mind some simple tips.
Hair care in monsoons cannot be said to be completely different from what we do the rest of the year. But, yes, we do need to be a little bit more particular and careful. After all, the humid monsoon air proves to be the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and fungus.

Monsoon hair care
Following are some tips that can help get rid of smelly hair in monsoons. There is nothing extraordinary or out-of-the world about them but sometimes we tend to overlook these simple things.
Clean
scalp:
A
clean
scalp
is
a
must
for
good
hair
health.
During
monsoons
this
becomes
all
the
more
necessary
in
order
to
avoid
fungal
growth.
With
fungal
growth
come
scratchiness
and
a
smelly
effect.
Not
only
is
this
embarrassing
but
also
bad
for
the
scalp
giving
rise
to
skin
irritations.
Hair
washes
up
to
thrice
a
week
is
ideal.
If
you
get
wet
in
the
rains
wash
the
hair
and
scalp
at
the
earliest.
Shampoo
selection:
A
moisturizing
shampoo
should
be
avoided
during
monsoons
as
this
can
give
rise
to
stickiness
and
eventually
bad
odor.
A
mild
shampoo
should
be
the
ideal
choice
for
hair
care
in
monsoons,
especially
if
you
have
oily
hair.
Using
natural
products
like
amla,
shikakai
and
reetha
is
a
good
option.
Condition hair: In order to avoid smelly hair in monsoons it is important to keep them conditioned. You could either go for store bought branded ones or adopt some simple homemade ones. Apart from the store bought ones some kitchen products work wonders. You can use lemon juice, baking soda or apple cider vinegar to help keep your hair conditioned and in control.
Diet changes: Just as proper diet is required for good health your hair and scalp too need the same. Make sure to take in enough fluids, fresh fruits and vegetables. These will help keep your body well hydrated. Avoid excessive caffeine intake which can increase sweating and eventually stickiness in the scalp. Also try to avoid alcohol which can cause enlargement of blood vessels and lead to increased sweating.
Hair procedures: If you are planning to go for hair procedures like perming, straightening or coloring try to wait till the monsoon season gets over. Hair care in monsoons goes to a different level and trying to take care of treated hair is a little more difficult. Can also prove to be a little harsh on the hair and scalp leading to increased damage.
We all love our hair and try to give it the best possible treatment. Taking extra care of hair and scalp during the rainy season helps us fight smelly hair in monsoons. A head full of bouncy and shiny hair not only invites compliments but also gives us happiness.
