Cure Dry Palms & Feet This Summer
Dry, flaky skin on your palms and feet are bad enough in winter, when you can hide them under gloves and socks. But what happens when they are on full display during summer? It is very unattractive when the skin of your palms and feet are dry, rough and peeling. Constant exposure to the harsh sun and wind can make your skin flaky and itchy to touch. You might even have to endure pain when your dry palms and feet come into contact with objects and cause your skin to peel.

The following methods can be used to cure dry palms and feet during the summer.
Lotion: Use lotions containing aloe vera and Vitamin E, as they prevent skin from being dry or scaly. Olive oil and Coconut oil can be used directly on the problem areas. Constant use will prevent the skin from drying out and leave it smooth and healthy.
Use Sunscreen: When your skin is constantly exposed to the sun, it becomes dry and harsh. Use sunscreen to protect your palms and the soles of your feet if you are wearing sandals. Restrict direct exposure to harsh weather conditions to prevent your skin from drying out.
Petroleum Jelly: A home remedy to prevent flaking of dry skin during summer is to cover your palms and feet with petroleum jelly and cover them with cotton gloves or socks at night. Remove the cotton gloves and socks in the morning and rinse your palms and feet in warm water. Scrub the skin of your palms and feet with a rough wash cloth until all the dead, flaky skin is removed. You will be left with fresh, moisturised skin.
Shower: Avoid taking long baths in warm water, as this can cause dry palms and feet. Opt for quick, tepid showers instead, to prevent your skin from drying out. Stop the use of regular soap and start using body wash consisting of cocoa butter or shea butter.
Moisturiser: Immediately after taking a shower, apply cocoa butter or any other intensive moisturiser on the palms of your hand and the soles of your feet. This will keep the skin moisturised and prevent scaly skin. Specific foot creams are available to keep the soles of the feet from cracking due to excessive dryness.
Pumice Stone: Before applying lotions and moisturisers, you can use a pumice stone to rub out the scaly, flaky skin that is peeling off your feet. This removes the dead skin cells and protects your feet from dryness.
It is very essential to take care of your skin during summer. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking at least 2 litres of water everyday. This ensures that your skin remains hydrated and healthy and offers protection against dry skin.
