Foot Care Tips To Avoid Infections
Feet is the most vulnerable part of the body which is highly exposed to fungal and bacterial foot infections. Fungal infections can set in easily due to the repeated wetting of foot in the rain and being in socks and shoes for a long time. Feet just not help walk but also reflect the person's hygiene and foot care. So, it is time to pay extra attention on your feet this monsoon.
The area between the toes are more infected so it is very important to keep it clean everyday. Diabetic people can get these infections easily so they should dust their feet with anti fungal powder before putting on shoes. Before covering your feet with socks or shoes, clean the toes with soap and water and rub it with a clean towel. Always wash your towel with hot water and antiseptic liquid disinfectant like Dettol to keep it free from bacterias.

- The feet sweats more during monsoon so the best way to take avoid sweating is by keeping your closed footwear aside and take out slippers and waterproof sandals. To reduce the perspiration in your toes, just take 5 ml peppermint oil in a tub of lukewarm water with a handful of neem leaves and soak your feet for 10 mints. Later, apply a peppermint powder. This will help you from sweating and also protect your feet from getting odor-causing bacteria and other foot infections. ;
- Monsoon is a moist season so protect your feet from foot infections like tenia pedis and nail infections. Camphor powder is an effective antiseptic. Mix it with talcum powder before wearing shoes and after opening them. It will prevent your feet from infections. ;
- Wear cotton socks and change your socks everyday. This is the simple way to care for your feet and avoid foot infections. ;
- Don't keep your shoes and sandals under the bed or inside the shoe rack when it is wet. This gives birth to bacterias. Sun is one of the effective medicines to kill bacterias and destroy chances of foot infections. Letting it dry under the sun will keep your shoes away from bacterias. ;
- Exfoliate your feet regularly with a foot scrubber or a pumice stone to remove the dead skin. These dead skin cells have a tendency to harden the foot and lead to cracks. You can even get pedicures once in a week to keep the foot clean. ;
- Feet do not have sebaceous or oil glands so keep them moisturized. Care for your feet by applying moisturizer on the feet after washing it every time. You can also apply olive oil or almond oil (natural foot lotion) but remember to apply it before going to bed. ;
