All the gifts were brought in a sandalwood box which has been handmade by a master craftsman from Jaipur, Rajasthan. For this, the sandalwood was sourced from Mysore, Karnataka which has intricately carved flora and fauna patterns and the box had 10 boxes inside.

What Is 'Sahasra Chandra Darshan'?

The term 'Sahasra' means 'thousand' and 'Chandra Darshanam' means 'seeing the moon'. Sahasra Purna Chandrodayam (or Sahasra Chandra Darshan) is the celebration of a person's 1000th full moon in his or her life, as a special occasion. It is to provide mental and physical strength in his/her old age and to encourage him/her to pursue spiritual liberation from all problems in this life.

There is a tradition of donating ten different things on the special occasion of Sahastra full moonrise- Gaudan, Bhoodan, Tildan, Hiranyadan (gold), Ajaydan (ghee), Dhanyadan (crop), Vastradan (clothes), Guddan, Roupyadan (silver) and Lavandan (salt).

Sesame seeds were brought from Tamil Nadu and instead of cow donation, PM Modi has given a coconut made of silver. Also, salt from Gujarat was kept in the box.
