Somvati Amavasya 2023 Daan: In Hinduism, the phases of the Moon hold immense significance, be it the full moon (Purnima) or New Moon (Amavasya). This year, Somvati Amavasya will be observed on 17 July 2023 and it is considered special in numerous ways.
This day is also called Hariyali Amavasya because it happens in the month of Sawan. According to religious texts, this is celebrated as an environment conservation day. People sow seeds and plant saplings as in the Hindu religion, plants and trees are worshipped and hold immense significance.

On the day of Somvatri Amavasya, one needs to engage in charitable activities and donations as per their ability to get maximum benefits. Women who are unable to fast on every new moon must observe fast on Somwati Amavasya and circumambulate the Peepal tree 108 times by wrapping it in a thread.
Chanting, penance and meditation are also of utmost importance on this day and by following these one can get the choicest blessings of Lord Shiva. Also, this day is considered best for getting the blessings of ancestors.
On this day, Tarpan and Shraddha rituals are performed for the satisfaction and peace of the ancestors. Apart from this, ancestors are also pleased by donating on this day.
Also, by observing fast on this day, a childless couple can be blessed with a child, marital life will be blissful and one can get glory, luck and fame.
