Adhik Maas 2023: Dos and Don'ts in Mala Masa, Remedies To Practice
In Hinduism, Adhik Masa holds immense significance and it comes every three years. This year, it started in July 2023. It is also called Malmas or Purushottam month. People engage in numerous, rituals, pujas and keep fast during this month as it also coincides with Sawan, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
This month is inserted to keep the Lunar Calendar aligned with the months of the year. This month is also known as Mala Masa or Purushottam month. This yoga has happened after 19 years, and it started in the month of Sawan itself.

Any kind of auspicious work is prohibited during the period of Adhik Masa, as well as charity work should be done this month. Adhik Masa is starting on 18 July 2023 and will end on 16 August 2023.

any
auspicious

one-month
period.
It
is
prohibited
to
do
auspicious
work
like
marriage
during
this
period.
Along with this, auspicious rituals like Naming Sanskar, Mundan, Griha Pravesh Puja, Tilak, Celibacy, and Diksha Grahan should also not be performed in Purushottam month.
One should not consume Tamasic food at all in Adhikamas. Along with this, avoid consuming urad dal, masoor dal, onion-garlic, stale grains, honey, radish etc. By doing this, you may have to face physical problems.
During this period, big purchases like houses, cars, and gold and silver jewellery should also be avoided. Along with this, one should avoid neglecting any poor or less powerful person than himself.

holds
special
importance
for
the
works
of
charity
and
religious
deeds.
Sreemad
Bhagwad
Gita
can
be
recited
in
this
month.
Along
with
this,
reciting
Vishnu
Sahastranam,
and
Ramayana
is
also
auspicious.
Donation of lamps also has special importance in this month. Also, donate food and clothes. You can also donate the flag by going to the temple. You need to make sure to feed the poor and needy in this holy month. Trees should also be planted during the Adhik Masa period.
Wheat, barley, sesame, banana, milk, cumin, rock salt, fenugreek, bathua, cucumber, betel nut, jackfruit, rice etc. should be consumed in Adhik Masa. Daily religious rituals and works of worship can be done this month. You need to specially worship Lord Vishnu.
